- How big is it? Can I still see detail at that size?
The small map is approximately 5 inches long by 3.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall. The larger map is 5 by 7 inches by 1.75 inches tall and yes you can still see details like El Capitan, Half Dome, and other famous landmarks but you can’t see tress, roads, trails, or rivers — just the mountains, peaks, and valleys.
- Why Walnut? Is that a hardwood?
We chose walnut as our first wood because it has such a classic, handsome grain, is a very hard wood, sands down very smooth, and has a reddish brown, smokey color to it. It’s also easy to find and sustainable.
- This is a gift. Can I have it engraved?

- How closely does this resemble Yosemite Valley?
I grew up visiting Yosemite and have hiked many of the landmarks in the map. I can say that I’m impressed by how they closely they resemble the real valley and that I recognize them immediately.
- Can I hang it on a wall?
We have not included hardware or grooves to mount on a wall yet. But if we keep getting this request then we can certainly consider that. Other products we are looking to add in the future will be bigger and will be made for hanging on a wall.
